4. Mayfaire by the Lake

5. Digital Graffiti Festival

14. FORD Cuban Sandwich Festival of Kissimmee and Orlando
Held May 4 in Kissimmee. The 8th Annual Cuban Sandwich Festival in Kissimmee is one of several in May. This one spans the waterfront park near historic downtown Kissimmee where local Cuban sandwich makers will vie for the title of Top Cuban Sandwich. Besides great food, there will be live music and an attempt to make the world’s largest Cuban sandwich.
15. Manatee’s 3rd Annual Taco Fest
Held May 4 in Palmetto. Come hungry to indulge in a dizzying array of tacos, margaritas, and other food offerings. 16. St. Augustine Food and Wine Festival
Held May 8-12 in St. Augustine. This May head to St. Augustine to indulge in “one of Florida’s top 10 food and wine festivals”, according to USA Today. The five-day festival is held at multiple locations and pairs the best of the historic city’s world class food with exquisite wine offerings. Though all of the events are 21+, the Jazz Brunch is a family-friendly event at the festival.
17. St. Pete Taco and Tequila Festival
Held May 10-11 in St. Petersburg. Hit Vinoy Park for a two-day waterfront festival filled with tons of authentic tacos, live music and entertainment, and premium cocktails. In 2024, the festival features 33 taco vendors, four bands, and tons of cocktail and margarita options. The St. Pete Tacos and Tequila Festival is family-friendly and dog-friendly.
18. Wesley Well Farms Tomato Festival
Held May 11 in St. Augustine. As Florida’s tomato-growing season comes to a close, this festival honors everything tomato. 23. Belleview Founder’s Day Celebration
Held May 4 in Belleview. Belleview Founders Day is a family-friendly event which celebrates the founding of Belleview, a small town south of Ocala, back in the 1880s. For the rest of the family, there will be booths highlighting the city’s history as well as craft, business, and food vendors.
24. Howey Founders Day
Held May 4 in Howey-in-the-Hills. Held at Howey Mansion, the Howey-in-the-Hills Founders Day celebration features mansion tours, food trucks, and more than 40 art and crafts vendors. There will also be information about the town’s history and a vintage car show. Founded in 1925 as Town of Howey, the name was officially changed to Howey-in-the-Hills in 1927.
25. Drake’s Raid Re-enactment
Held May 10-11 in St. Augustine. In late May (possibly early June) 1586, 2000 British in 23 ships laid siege to San Agustín. Led by Sir Francis Drake, the town was captured and razed to the ground. The re-enactment commemorates this event and brings it to life. Enacters set up camp on Friday. On Saturday, the Oldest House Museum Complex will host a re-created 16th-century-style military encampment, featuring drills, weapons demonstrations and living history interpretations. The raid itself is re-enacted near the Orange Street redoubt in front of Ann O’Malley’s on Saturday evening.
26. Florida Folk Festival
May 24-26 in White Springs. This 71st annual festival is a celebration of the music, stories, and food that make Florida unique. Each year, the festival Folklife Area highlights a special topic of Florida heritage, and in 202 that’s earth. This festival features all aspects of Florida’s heritage, from Irish fiddlers to root beer floats. Held May 3-5 in West Palm Beach. Sunfest is a four-day waterfront music festival in West Palm Beach which features some of the country’s most well-known artists. 29. Welcome to Rockville
Held May 9-12 in Daytona Beach. The Daytona International Speedway turns into an epic rock festival each May. This outdoor music festival features three stages, onsite campground, several bars, a Ferris wheel, a waterslide, and much more. The lineup for 2024 includes Slipknot, Limp Bizkit, Foo Fighters, and Mötley Crüe.
30. New Smyrna Beach Jazz Festival
Held May 17-19 in New Smyrna Beach. The New Smyrna Beach Jazz Festival is an annual event featuring live jazz performances from some of the best local and international artists. CANCELLED IN 2024. Sunset Music Festival, one of the premier EDM festivals in Florida, has been on a rebranding journey through the end of 2023 and beginning of 2024, to include a new venue announcement. According to a Tampa Bay Times article, that venue is not yet ready so the festival has been cancelled in 2024.
34. Myakka River Blues Festival
Held May 27 in Venice. The Myakka River Blues Festival is one of the premier annual events in Venice, featuring some of the best blues musicians in the country. Since its inception in 2011, this festival has grown to become one of the most highly acclaimed events on Florida’s west coast. Taking place at Snook Haven Restaurant, this annual event celebrates the genre and its various styles with performances from renowned artists. 35. Gulf Coast Jam Festival
Held May 30-June 2 in Panama City Beach. Get ready for four days of #countryonthecoast at the annual Gulf Coast Jam. 37. Wild Amelia Nature Festival
Held May 10 & 18 in Fernandina Beach. The Wild Amelia Nature Festival is a celebration of the unique bioregion on and around Amelia Island. 52. Ocean Brews and Blues Beer Fest
Held May 18 in Deerfield Beach. Since 2017, Deerfield Beach transforms itself one day in May into South Florida’s largest beer festival on the beach. Enjoy unlimited samples of 140+ beers from 60+ breweries, while listening to live music and savoring great food. It’s the perfect opportunity to explore new beers, find your favorite brew, and have an unforgettable time with friends.
Other Florida Festivals in May
Florida being Florida, there are many other festivals happening in May which don’t easily fall into any of the previous categories. When looking for a unique event in Florida, try one of these. From a pirate festival on the panhandle to a Memorial weekend beach party, these festivals provide unforgettable experiences.
53. Thunder Beach Spring Rally
Held May 1-5 in Panama City Beach. 5 days, 3 locations, and 2 partner venues. Listen to live music from artists such as Who’s Your Sugar Daddy?, Kevin Jacobs Band, and April Lace. Enjoy bike shows, entertainment, and an extensive vendor village.
54. Tampa Riverfest
Held May 3-4 in Tampa. This free event spans the entire length of Tampa’s famed Riverwalk. The event features Taste of Riverwalk on Friday night and Riverfiesta on Saturday. Patrons will enjoy family-friendly activities, local musicians, and events showcasing Tampa’s cultural institutions. There will also be a paddle invasion on the Hillsborough River, a weiner dog derby, and lantern parade. Stay until sunset for a balloon glow each night.
55. Island Grove Blueberry Festival
Held May 4 in Hawthorne. This annual festival helps support the Cross Creek Volunteer Fire Department which serves the Island Grove, Lochloosa, and Cross Creek communities. Though not well known outside of the immediate area, Cross Creek might sound familiar as the place where Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings wrote her class book set in Florida, The Yearling.
This Florida festival features local artists, artisans, and crafters. Visitors can enjoy homemade blueberry pie or take part in the blueberry cake contest. There’s a kids zone, food trucks, and transportation to and from a nearby u-pick blueberry field.
56. Family Fest
Held May 11 in Altamonte Springs. This free, family-friendly event focuses on learning with a variety of S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) activities and demonstrations for kids. There will also be a scavenger hunt and fishing derby, promising a fun afternoon for everyone. Food trucks will be on-site for food and drink purchases. No dogs or coolers are permitted.
57. International Fringe Theater Festival
Held May 14-27 in Orlando. What’s a fringe festival, you ask? It’s a gathering of indie theatrical performances. The festival celebrates more than theater, though. There’s visual art which pushes the comfort zones and beyond normal mediums and subject matter. Kids are welcome, too, so bring the whole family for a fun-filled weekend exploring the boundaries of creativity.
58. Billy Bowlegs Pirate Festival
Held May 16-20 in Fort Walton Beach. The 68th Annual Billy Bowlegs Pirate Festival thrills patrons with four days filled with entertainment and activities. The festivities kick off Thursday with a Downtown Pub Crawl. Friday features concerts, food trucks, and fireworks. The festivities go on all day Saturday with the pirates invading Fort Walton Beach mid-afternoon. Head back downtown on Monday evening for the Torchlight Parade.
59. Lionfish Removal & Awareness Festival
Held May 18-19 in Destin. This 5th annual festival aims to bring awareness to the invasive lionfish and the havoc it wreaks on local fish and ecosystems. The Emerald Coast Open, held the same weekend, brings spearfishers together in a friendly competition to reduce the lionfish population. Florida’s Fish and Wildlife Commission hosts the festival in conjunction with local businesses. Each night of the week leading up to the festival, a local restaurant features a lionfish specialty dish. During the weekend there will be games, demonstrations, and live music.
60. Great American Beach Party
Held May 25 in Fort Lauderdale. Kick off the summer with a fabulous beach party! The Great American Beach Party turns part of world-famous Fort Lauderdale Beach into a family-friendly mecca for a full day of entertainment and fun. Enjoy a parachute jump, water slides, classic car show and live music.
61. Air & Sea Show
Held May 25-26 in Miami. The Air & Sea Show in Miami is actually one component of the larger National Salute to Heroes sponsored by Hyundai. The 2-day celebration includes a military display village, air show, offshore powerboat demonstrations, and extreme water sports. There will also be a night-pyro parachute demonstration and fireworks.
62. Green Cove Springs Memorial Day RiverFest
Held May 27 in Green Cove Springs. This Memorial Day festival in Florida takes place along the banks of the historic St. Johns River. The all-day event features a fireworks show, live entertainment, kids activities, and more than 100 vendors. It’s a fun, family-friendly event reminiscent of small town celebrations across the nation.
63. Fiesta Days
Held May 29-June 1 in Pensacola. Tampa has Gasparilla in January/February when pirates take over the town. And Pensacola has Fiesta Days and celebrations. The Surrender of the City to Deluna and his Queen happens on May 29 this year. That celebration is followed by the Grand Fiesta Parade on May 31 and the Fiesta Boat Parade on June 1.
Bonus: Memorial Day Parades in Florida
Each year, communities around the United States honor veterans and servicemembers with a variety of parades and ceremonies. Many Florida communities do so as well. These are some of the most popular parades which take place year after year.
64. Lakewood Ranch Memorial Day Parade
Held May 26 in Lakewood Ranch. The Lakewood Ranch Parade draws thousands every year who travel from Sarasota and surrounding counties to enjoy this main street parade. The free event kicks off with a pre-block party at 6:00pm followed by the parade which begins at 7:00pm.
65. Davie Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony
Held May 27 in Davie. Davie’s Memorial Day Parade lands on our list because it includes a parade and keeps the meaning of Memorial Day in the forefront through the entire celebration. Residents and visitors to this South Florida town enjoy the parade route from SW 70th Terrace to its end at the Bergeron Rodeo Grounds. A ceremony and celebration follows the parade.
66. Pompano Beach Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony
Held May 27 in Pompano Beach. The City of Pompano Beach will honor the community’s veterans, military service members and their families with a parade and special program. The parade begins at 10:00 AM with a route from MacNab Park to the City of Pompano Beach Cemetery. The ceremony takes place after the parade.
67. Sarasota Memorial Day Parade
Held May 27 in Sarasota. The Sarasota Memorial Parade takes place along Main Street. Featuring Gold Star Families, Military, Law Enforcement, local Jeep clubs, and more, the parade honors the community’s veterans, servicemembers and their families. The parade stages at 8:00 AM for a midmorning star.
68. Wellington Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony
Held May 27 in Wellington. Wellington will honor all veterans with a Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony on Memorial Day. The parade begins at the Village Hall at 8:15 AM and ends at the Veterans Memorial. Veterans are invited to walk in the parade as well as register to be honored in the ceremony following the parade.
